Unveiled last week in Korea, where it wears the EQ900 moniker, it's the group's most serious effort to date in a category ruled by cars like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7-Series, Audi A8 and at least in North America, the Lexus LS. It rides on a stretched platform of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis and packs a brand new 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine under its hood, with 365hp (370PS), connected to an 8-speed auto. The turbo unit is joined by an entry-level 3.8-liter V6 rated at 311hp (315PS), and a range-topping 5.0-liter V8, with 419hp (425PS).
Some of the goodies found inside, which are highlighted in this new video, are the 12.3-inch infotainment screen, the three-zone climate control system, 9.2-inch tablets for the rear-seat entertainment system, electrically adjustable seats wrapped in leather, wood trim, wireless charging and others.
Genesis won't stop here as it's already working on a stretched version, which will attempt to offer buyers an alternative (on the more affordable side) to the LWB variants of the Audi A8, BMW 7-Series, and (with a bit of a stretch) the Maybach S-Class.
